New Approaches to Effective Leadership
Most of a successful leader's natural tendencies are on target. The problem, of course, is identifying when your natural tendencies are not on target, and altering your normal approach to be more effective. The first part of the presentation will outline what leaders can do, in practice, to overcome some of these normal failings. Some of the more specific topics will include control, autonomy, structural solutions, delegation, learning, and values.

The Need for a Functional Team
No one can do it on their own: the old notion that, "to get something done well, you must do it yourself," is a recipe for organizational failure. The research on team building suggests that the most effective ideas on team building are not rocket science - they just take effort and perseverance. Thus, this part of the session will identify a series of practical measures that participants can take to build more effective teams.

Counterintuitive Approaches to Building Trust
Leaders cannot be effective if they do not engender trust in their work teams. Recent research has identified how normal approaches, e.g., "you must earn my trust," can be truly problematic. This part of the session will provide new, safe, and effective ways to build trust rapidly. It will include a short exercise and a variety of applicable examples that can help people increase their trust-building effectiveness.
