Description
Entrepreneurs assemble resources including innovations, finance and business acumen in an effort to transform innovations into economic goods. Green chemistry addresses the need to produce the goods and services, on which society depends, in a more environmentally benign manner. The focus of green chemistry is on pollution prevention, rather than treatment and disposal of hazardous waste after it has been generated.

The portmanteau term Enviropreneur derives from Environment and Entrepreneur, and it can be a possible model to implement Green Chemistry  contribute towards the sustainability of our planet. The model involves creating an eco system between all the stake holders such as the chemical industry, academia, government bodies and the common man to come together to create innovations around key pollution challenges being faced by the chemical industry, customize those innovations as a solution  offer it to the industry.

In this presentation, Newreka Green Synth Technologies will share it’s journey of Enviropreneurship. A successful case study, of implementing Green Chemistry at commercial scales with recycle at source and reduced E-Factor (kgs effluent generated per kg of product produced), and the consequent impact on the economics and the environment, will be discussed. The presentation will also discuss the challenges and limitations that have been experienced while implementing this model, and of the significance of bridging the gap between industry and academia.
