Michael Bell, MD, Associate Director for Infection Control, Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Dr. Michael Bell is Associate Director for Infection Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion. Prior to that he was the chief of the Epidemiology Unit at the Viral Special Pathogens Branch which focuses on highly infectious viruses such as Ebola hemorrhagic fever virus. Before coming to the Special Pathogens Branch, he worked at CDC’s Hospital Infections Program investigating outbreaks of healthcare related illness and writing national guidelines for infection control. He received his medical degree from the University of Washington and trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado. After serving on the clinical faculty at the University of Colorado, he went to University of California San Francisco where he sub-specialized in Infectious Diseases.
