The presenter will provide an update on the impact, prevention, and outcome of surgical site infections. The expanding performance of surgical procedures and the potential serious medical and economic consequences of surgical site infections underscore the need to prevent SSIs. This topic is of paramount importance to healthcare providers with different backgrounds, including infection control practitioners, nurses, physicians, pharmacists and surgical technicians as well as hospital administrators.;Objectives: · Address the impact of surgical site infections · Assess the clinical benefit of potential prevention strategies · Analyze the role of skin antisepsis in preventing surgical site infection
