The presenter will describe CDC's recommendations for HIV screening in healthcare settings. Examples of HIV screening programs in emergency departments and other acute care settings using point of care rapid HIV tests will be reviewed.;Objectives: • Relate the rationale for expanding HIV screening in health-care settings • Enumerate the differences between diagnostic testing and screening for HIV and their relative yield in acute care settings • Determine strategies for HIV screening appropriate for their specific settings
