Objectives:
- Learners will be able to: Detail reasons for and outcomes of several of the nearly 40 recent outbreaks of bloodborne pathogens in the United States, including outbreaks in Fremont, Nebraska (2000-2001) and Las Vegas (2008);
- Learners will be able to: Summarize legislative and advocacy efforts, led by HONOReform, the CDC Foundation, and members of the Safe Injection Practices Public Policy Group, to prevent outbreaks of bloodborne pathogens in the United States;
- Learners will be able to: Describe education and awareness aims, led by HONOReform Foundation, the CDC, and the Safe Injection Practices Coalition, to educate the public and reeducate providers on the importance of always following safe injection techniques.
