Description
Don't automate a mess! In today's fast paced world, technology departments are moving at top speed to give staff and members what they are asking for...but it's not necessarily what they need OR what's best for the organization. Examine how to evaluate requests to get to the heart of what your requestors really need AND what to do if you find messy solutions that no longer work. Sometimes even IT employees need to know when to say no to automation!

Objective:

1. Participants will be able to critically question how and WHY they are applying automation... is it truly making a process better or just automating a bad process?
2. Attendees will understand more about a project manager's role to oversee a process (software development, process improvement, etc) and NOT let unnecessary automation occur.
3. Attendees will take a look at what to do when they encounter a messy/bad process...one that started with good intentions but became a series of band-aid solutions gone wrong.
