Closing General Session: Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us
Track: Tuesday, March 9, 2010
Program Code: 220V
Date: Tuesday, March 9, 2010
Time: 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM EST
Location: International Center Room
SPEAKER:
Dan Pink
Description
We heard you loud and clear. You’ve expressed an interest in crowdsourcing some of our learning programs so for the 2010 Great Ideas Conference we asked you to vote on who the closing general session speaker should be. After receiving over 50 suggestions, you voted and chose Dan Pink.

Daniel Pink, bestselling author of A Whole New Mind, will draw on three decades of research in behavioral science to show why the traditional approach to motivation backfires for most organizations. He’ll explain why things besides money – for instance, autonomy and a sense of purpose – are actually the most powerful motivators of high performance. And he’ll provide tools that associations and non-profits, which can’t pay high salaries and often rely on volunteers, can use to transform their organizations. This provocative and entertaining presentation is based on Pink’s new book, Drive, which he’ll be signing afterwards.

Daniel H. Pink is the author of provocative, bestselling books on the changing world of work including A Whole New Mind, The Adventures of Johnny Bunko, Free Agent Nation, and Drive."
