The result has been a recipe for fundraising success for the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation who has raised millions of dollars beyond their initial pledge goals. Their approach is three-fold: high participation goals, pledge upgrades, and aggressively marketing a planned giving program. Using its board president as the primary cheerleader and tapping into oft-ignored students are among the keys that have successfully straightened out this program. An overview of “best practices” for board fundraising will also be given.
