Dr. Demiris is an Associate Professor of Biomedical and Health Informatics, School of Medicine, and Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems, School of Nursing, at the University of Washington. He holds a PhD degree in Health Informatics from the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on the use of information technology for home and hospice care and the design of technology based interventions for older adults. He is the Chair of the International Medical Informatics Association Working Group on Smart Homes and Ambient Assisted Living and the American Medical Informatics Association Working Group on Knowledge in Motion.
