George Demiris, PhD, Associate Professor, University of Washington
Dr. Demiris is an Associate Professor of Biomedical and Health Informatics, School of Medicine, and Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems, School of Nursing, at the University of Washington. He holds a PhD degree in Health Informatics from the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on the use of information technology for home and hospice care and the design of technology based interventions for older adults. He is the Chair of the International Medical Informatics Association Working Group on Smart Homes and Ambient Assisted Living and the American Medical Informatics Association Working Group on Knowledge in Motion.

Chris Patricoski, MD FAAFP - Clinical Director for Telehealth, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC), Anchorage Alaska. Dr. Patricoski practiced family medicine at a variety of rural settings and has worked for 10 years in research, design, training and implementation of telemedicine systems in Alaska.
Shainy B. Varghese, PhD, Assistant Professor, University of Houston Victoria, School of Nursing
Shainy Varghese, PhD, RN, CPNP, is an assistant professor at the University of Houston Victoria School of Nursing. Dr. Varghese also maintains a part time clinical practice as a pediatric Nurse Parctitioner. Dr.Varghese wishes to continue her research in the area of telehealth.
Brendan Purdy, Telehealth Program Coordinator, University Health Network
Brendan Purdy RN is a Telehealth coordinator at the University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, Canada. Since 2004, he has facilitated exponential growth of UHN’s clinical videoconferences. In addition, he has enabled Telehealth services to all major UHN programs. The latter has required streamlining licensure processes for UHN physicians with patients scattered across Canada. Mr. Purdy’s published papers examine the role of Telehealth regarding: bone marrow transplantation, parenteral nutrition monitoring, and telepresence modification. He has also presented at many international conferences and received awards for his work. Currently, he is investigating Telehealth’s effect on carbon emissions compared to in-person care.
