Track : Feburary 9, 2010
Program Code: T40
SPEAKER (S):
Donna Bliss, PhD, RN, FAAN, FGSA
Linda Lord, MS, CNSN, NP
Description
"This workshop will address optimizing the tolerance of enteral feedings
in relation to two major clinical hurdles: diarrhea and gastric
residual volume. Join this session to hear a discussion of strategies for
dealing with diarrhea in the tube fed patient based on lessons learned
from research on fiber and fecal incontinence, as well as probiotics
and clostridium difficile. We will also revisit the pros and cons of
measuring gastric residual volume in regards to preventing respiratory
complications in the non-ICU patient."
