Description
A range of experts will discuss issues related to using a dedicated energy crop as a feedstock for a cellulosic biorefinery: Abengoa will discuss its plans for a cellulosic biorefinery based in Colwich, Kan., which will be partially based on dedicated energy crops; and Ceres will discuss its plans to provide dedicated energy crops for Abengoa's biorefinery as well as its views on the broader potential for dedicated energy crops.

Objectives:
  • Gain a better understanding of how the cellulosic ethanol industry is evolving and the role that dedicated energy crops are beginning to play in this industry.

  • Learn about the need for and the process of coordinated planning between a company building a biorefinery and a provider of dedicated energy crops.

  • Learn about the advantages of dedicated energy crops as a feedstock for cellulosic biorefineries and the characteristics of switchgrass that make it an attractive dedicated energy crop.
