Description
Current shortcomings in demand forecasting for global health products increase the risks for suppliers, resulting in higher costs, supply shortages and concerns about the long-term viability of investing in R&D for health products that would benefit the developing world. This session will focus on identifying specific opportunities to improve the forecasting framework through strategic investments in data collection and methodological development, and through improvements in the institutional arrangements and interactions between public and private sectors.

Objectives:
  • Educate biotech industry leaders about the current demand forecasting challenges.

  • Understand how better demand forecasting could reduce risk in the market for global health products and strengthen the business case for greater biotech R&D investment in this area.

  • Identify specific actions and investments by international actors to improve the global demand forecasting framework.
