Description
The challenges faced by biotech companies and universities when attempting to develop, protect and bring to market new products and ideas in an ever-evolving legal and procedural environment are complicated by there being four major patent offices and variations among the laws and regulations of each. Representatives from the patent organizations of Japan, Europe, China and the USA will address common issues and present updates focused on recent changes in the law and rules.
Objectives:
Provide an overall understanding of similarities and differences in the varying patent laws of the United States, Europe, Japan and China as applied to biotech inventions.
Provide a better understanding of the patentability requirements, disclosure requirements (requirements for examples, data in patent applications), and postgrant validity challenging procedures in the United States, Europe, Japan and China.
Discuss global biotech patent strategies: a foundation to strengthen biotech intellectual property portfolios in all major commercial markets.
