Description
The U.S. government Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) programs provide over $1 billion annually for small business research and development projects. SBIR/STTR funding: Is not a loan and you receive capital without giving up equity; Can provide leverage to attract angel, venture capital, economic development and other sources of financial support; FAcilitates partnerships between small companies and academic centers; and Usually allows intellectual property rights to be retained by the small business.



Objectives:
  • Discover how to obtain SBIR/STTR funds from the managers of the two major funding agencies, HHS and DOD.

  • Learn from company CEOs the issues they faced getting and using SBIR/STTR funding.
