Description
To meet the new health-care challenges of the 21st century, some European countries are trying to develop more effective policies to reward innovation and provide patients with new innovative biopharmaceuticals while managing national budgets. The European Commission and the member states are today working together with stakeholders, in a unique platform, the High Level Pharmaceutical Forum, to ensure a faster uptake of innovative therapies in the interest of patients.

Objectives:
  • Describe European policy to ensure equal and timely access to innovative therapies.

  • Discuss what are the best practices in patient access policies in the EU for rewarding innovation and supporting a competitive biotechnology industry.

  • Define the role of the biopharmaceutical industry to favor the establishment of a patient-driven political agenda.
