Description
One of the major challenges in elucidating new targets and developing therapeutics, particularly for complex diseases, is the ability to reasonably model the disease under investigation. From yeast and Caribbean primates to computer-generated disease populations, several companies are leading the way toward improved modeling techniques that mimic the biological processes, shed light on the disease and provide insight into new drugs.

Objectives:
  • Provide an overview of the novel and innovative approaches to modeling disease.

  • Outline how to leverage these nontraditional approaches to produce novel therapeutics.

  • Highlight potential opportunities as well as challenges in this area of research.
