Description
This session will discuss the new rules that have been written on the access of genetic resources and the sharing of benefits derived from those resources with the completion of the Material Transfer Agreement for the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture.



Objectives:
  • Discuss whether there will be an increased demand for these resources.

  • Explore if and how new royalty flows will help farmers in developing countries or support gene banks around the world. Explore the role of the Global Crop Diversity Trust and CGIAR.

  • Identify the real benefits and how those benefits will be shared.
