Description
The R&D in agricultural biotechnology has not only revitalized the sustainable development of agriculture in Taiwan, but also stimulated business opportunities in herb-based functional foods, vaccines in animals and aquacultures, bioinsecticides, genetically modified rice, orchids and vegetables, diagnostic tools, molecular farming, and biofuel production.
Objectives:
Discuss biotechnology as the foundation for internationally oriented agribusiness in Taiwan.
Show how biotechnology is the tool for production of value-added agricultural products.
Discuss how the National Science and Technology Program for Agricultural Biotechnology takes biotech from laboratory to the market.
