Description
The New England Internship Study, conducted in cooperation with Babson College and the Northeast Human Resources Association, is a unique research project which seeks to uncover students' expectations of internship experiences. The study, the largest of its kind, gathered information from over 6,000 students from 31 colleges during the Fall semester of 2006. This presentation will provide insights on how to build an effective internship program and offer approaches to improve existing programs by focusing on the main participants: the students. The data speaks to all of the facets of an internship program including reasons to host internship programs, structure, recruitment, interviewing, selection, compensation, benefits, supervisors, evaluation, and legal aspects. Attendees will receive a free abridged version of the research publication. ** IMPORTANT NOTE: The proposal above is based on our research from the New England Internship Study, which took place in the fall of 2006. During the fall of 2007, we will be conducting the Northeast Internship Study. The topics and questions will be the same, but the student response rate is estimated to reach at least 30,000. I am more than happy to provide specific numbers when the committee begins to review proposals.
