Description
How many Olympic Gold Medalists earned that prize through happenstance or, better yet, were handed the prize despite no effort on their part? Know of any world-renowned surgeons who earned that reputation without working hard, learning from his/her mistakes, and pressing forward despite obstacles in his/her internship, residency, and beyond? Were these individuals handed the prize and/or positive reputation, or did he/she have to build it through hard work? Today's college graduate wants to feel good about his/her accomplishments and as career advisors, coaches, and recruiters, we want them to see that desire fulfilled. The question then is whether our job is to fulfill that desire for the short-term or help our students fulfill that desire in the long-term? Does our advising teach students to be global citizens who make a difference in his/her world or are we teaching them that life will be handed to them on a silver platter? Learn how to join students on this journey without compromising our goal of developing global citizens. Learn how to challenge your students to develop the necessary skills to rise above mediocrity while building trust and serving as a coach/mentor who spurs them to greatness—and not just financial greatness.
