Description
Employers are keen to explore new ways in which they can raise their profile on campus and innovatively engage with universities and colleges. Colleges recognise the importance of developing their students' career management skills and of preparing them for their roles as leaders in a complex and fast-changing world. Employers' CSR and ethical policies are increasingly important drivers affecting student choice of employer. The University of Manchester, the largest university in the UK, has developed two initiatives which enable employers to gain profile by delivering inputs into the formal curriculum of students from all faculties. The session will provide an insight into the Career Management Skills (CMS) program taught to over 2000 students each year and the Manchester Leadership Programme (MLP) which involves 500 students and gives them an understanding of leadership that embraces social, economic and environmentally sustainable development. Over 200 employers are involved in the development and delivery of these programs.
