Description
"Social media applications (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter), blogging, online discussion forums, and instant messaging are becoming ever more prevalent forms of communication among today's students. While these tools (developed to enable communication) have also proven valuable for marketing and networking, experts have also noted a resulting gap in face-to-face communication skills, decreased productivity, and a blurred line between public and private information for many young professionals. As a result, employers and college career services professionals are confronting a steady stream of new issues when coaching this generation in how to effectively navigate not only the hiring process, but the workplace. This interactive presentation will focus on the challenges these professionals are facing related to these issues (some of the statistics shared will be startling). The goal of this program is to introduce steps for creating an effective symphony of professional communication skills for college graduates. Participants will discover opportunities to work in harmony to produce more attractive candidates, more productive employees, and consequently, more successful organizations.
