Description
Learn how DePaul University is engaging parents in students' career development process through online social networking. The DePaul Quad, a web-based community for parents and families of DePaul University students, launched in August 2007 and has since grown to more than 2,000 members. This unique social networking tool is now a key resource in the career center's parent outreach strategy, allowing career services to build stronger relationships with families and engage parents as active partners in their students' career development and job-search process. This session will outline what it takes to develop and run an online community for parents and families, show how the career center leveraged an active network of parents, and reveal how the conversations in an online community can change the overall way a university does business.
