Description
As the importance and popularity of online video skyrockets, an increasing number of career services practitioners and employers will be called on to appear on-camera for internet and media presentations. How do you best present to and make sure you are prepared? This session will educate participants on how to anticipate, respond to, and even reach out for on camera opportunities. Hands on media coaching will help participants know how to present themselves in the most compelling way, taking charge of an on camera appearance. Know where to look, what to wear, how to speak, and if needed spin negative questions into positive ones. What’s more the growing demand for video has created opportunities for career services practitioners and employers to create their own videos. Hear firsthand accounts from career directors Lonnie Dunlap (Northwestern University) and Tim Luzader (Purdue University) about how they handled media inquiries. Learn on camera techniques and tips from former NBC television news anchor/reporter Kathy Egan (founder of CareerSpots Videos). Presenters will lead a panel discussion about how to handle on camera appearances whether for media or internet presentations and teach participants how to prepare, manage difficult situations, and show professionalism and expertise.
