Description
Most colleges and universities certainly understand that employers are both vital partners in the educational process and primary customers for college/university career services. With a U.S. job market that continues to be challenging and competitive, employer relations staffs from small to mid-size career centers continue to search for ways to maintain the employer relationships they currently have and develop new marketing strategies to target and connect with employers in developing new relationships. This session will show how two career centers, with different student populations in different areas of the country, have been successful in developing individual “Employer Relations/Development Plans” that has resulted in new internship and full-time opportunities for their respective undergraduate and graduating students and new career center partners. Participants will learn and develop ideas for their own career center that will include: realistic strategies and employer development activities that target new and non-traditional organizations; methods to enhance customer service and obtain feedback on performance; data collection and creation of reports to effectively manage relationships; targeted communication plan advertising career center activities and encouraging student participation; and, collaboration activities with on and off campus groups, organizations, and other colleges and universities.
