Legal Authorization to Work in the US: What Can an Employer Ask and Not Ask
Track : LE
Program Code: 470
Date: Wednesday, June 1, 2011
Time: 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM  EST
Location: Dallas 6
SPEAKER :
Mark Rhoads, McCandlish Holton Law Firm
Description
"The politics of illegal immigration have increased the burden on employers verify that all employees are legally authorized to work in the United States. However, U.S. discrimination laws prevent employers from asking improper or discriminatory questions to job applicants regarding the applicant's work authorization. What types of questions can an employer lawfully ask a job applicant regarding work authorization? Can an employer simply require all employees to be ""U.S. Citizens""? These important questions will be discussed in this interactive session.
