Description
More women than men are now graduating from college. This means that more women than men are going into entry level professional positions, and ultimately, will take on progressively higher-level roles. With this major shift in the professional workforce, it will be become increasingly essential that employers recognize the things that women want in careers. In this session, information from an in-depth research study of organizations’ college recruiting webpages will be presented. Underlying gender issues are evident, and the implications for crafting strategic content are significant particularly for organizations with a goal of recruiting women. While much research has been done on webpages, very little has been done on the effectiveness of attracting college-aged women into the workforce as this study did. It is particularly crucial for organizations that have always appealed to men and now need to increase their population of women. Because women tend to value different things in career than men, to effectively recruit and retain women, employers must understand how to present career opportunities as well as what components to highlight.
