Description
Have you ever had trouble getting an employee to understand what you wanted him/her to do? Have you ever been thrown into a situation where you had to work with someone you didn’t know, and you worked together as if you’d know each other for years? Ever gotten frustrated working with a client or supplier because they just couldn’t understand what you were saying? Many times, these things happen simply because of a difference in personalities.
This workshop will help you learn more about yourself and your personality. You will also learn to identify the personality styles of others – employees, customers, family members, etc. – and how to communicate with them more effectively.
We will use the DiSC personality profile system to identify your primary personality style. We will use this information to help you determine:
- why you do some of the things you do
- what you can do to be more successful as a communicator, manager, leader, etc.
- what types of people you need to have around you to help you improve
- how you can alter your personality slightly to improve your communication with others
Outline:
1. People are different – recognizing a common communication mistake
2. What is your primary personality?
Working through the DiSC personality profile
Scoring your results
3. Understanding different personalities and how to interact more successfully
Discussion of the D, I, S, and C personality traits
Identifying the personalities of “celebrities”
4. Putting this information to work
Group exercises to apply your knowledge to actual situations
Determine potential conflicts BEFORE they happen; minimize conflicts as they pop up
