Description
Offering gifted education preparation programs at the graduate level disregard a teacher's need to differentiate from the beginning, but undergraduate programs often ignore gifted learners. Therefore, an undergraduate course on the knowledge, skills, and dispositions essential to working with gifted students in the regular classroom was developed. Teacher preparation candidates received conceptual and practical instruction from a classroom teacher skilled in differentiation, watched live demonstrations, prepared materials, and implemented strategies in real classrooms. This session explores course outcomes and provides suggestions for adapting the course model to other university and public school cooperative settings.
