Description
Many of the best creative ideas emerge from accidental connection making across disciplines. Such creative association becomes less accidental when ideas from diverse disciplines are brought together purposefully in common forums. The most difficult problems in today's complex, globalized environment require trans disciplinary thinking so the gifted must learn to capitalize on interdisciplinary creative association to position themselves for success and to solve tomorrow's problems. This session draws from a large-scale interdisciplinary project in which 87 concepts from 29 academic fields were cross-referenced to generate creative associations. Examples of high-powered cross-disciplinary creative associations and recommendations for instruction are included.
