Description
When gifted students fail to achieve at levels commensurate with their abilities, educators and parents lament the waste of such potential. In this session, we share data from two studies. We found that factors related to teaching satisfaction were similar to factors related to student achievement. Both groups needed to feel competent, find the work meaningful, and believe that they were in a supportive environment. We discuss the research related to these three factors and discuss specific techniques that parents and educators can use with students to promote a positive attitude in each of these three areas.
