Description
Aliteracy has become an epidemic in adolescents. Even in gifted populations, kids seldom read for challenge and enjoyment. In this session, we explore the use of the SEM-R framework to enhance challenge in a high school literature class. This framework utilizes a reading workshop approach to personalize instruction based on students academic needs while addressing students interests. Specific materials are shared as the audience learns about the benefit of self-selected reading opportunities for all students.
