Description
Gifted and talented resource teachers, specialists, and/or coordinators are often expected to provide professional development for gifted education within their school districts. This session will explore various standards, both within and outside of gifted education, as well as research on teacher change and how adults learn. Using a single NAGC-CEC Teacher Knowledge and Skill Standard as a point of departure, participants will be guided in designing a professional development experience that is responsive to context-specific needs. Participants will leave this session with a better understanding about how to plan appropriate and effective standards-driven professional development in gifted education.
