Description
Service learning is a valuable teaching paradigm for all learners. Gifted and other advanced-level learners, however, can benefit in a variety of ways from the experience. Adding service learning to an advanced class or in the differentiation of a regular classroom for gifted learners can enhance rigor and satisfy acceleration and enrichment goals. This session focuses on the use of service learning at all grade levels and every subject matter. Exemplary practices are demonstrated as well as models for success. A plan for implementing service learning as a part of the advanced curriculum is provided.
