Description
Introduce elementary gifted students to the world of geometry using jump ropes! Using the ropes as visual representations of lines and angles, young children can become proficient in topics not typically discussed until high school. This session introduces teachers to a unit of study that provides a hands-on approach to creating and naming lines, rays, and angles. We discuss how to use the jump ropes to model alternate interior, corresponding, vertical, and same-side interior angles. Students will be able to see the relationships among these angles and apply their understanding of these relationships to geometric proofs.
