Description
This session describes how to use the 2010 NAGC Pre-K-Grade 12 Gifted Programming Standards in ongoing professional development activities. Examples are provided that include tiered levels of district-sponsored workshops, independent studies, mentored activities, and university courses. Presenters also show ways of assessing the effectiveness of professional development by aligning the activities to student outcomes. These student outcomes include the students developing not only their talents and gifts but also socially and emotionally. Specific examples of assessments are provided. Time is allotted for discussing opportunities and challenges in implementing the programming standards.
