Description
Enrichment services should provide gifted learners with many opportunities to develop talents and capacities as critical readers, writers, thinkers, and speakers. Recent emphasis upon literacy and numeracy as measured only by tests, however, has sometimes resulted in many more sophisticated instructional strategies being excluded. This session explores the benefits of infusing a Junior Great Books experience into arts, social studies, and science education. In doing so, gifted learners may explore new realms of creative expression that consolidate their learning through reading. Materials and sample lessons are provided.
