Description
Information literacy and critical thinking, essential competencies for conducting research, are two areas emphasized in 21st century skills. Gifted students’ needs are the context for a discussion about original research in which real-world problems are investigated. The presenter provides a metacognitive scaffold for developing challenging research projects for primary gifted students. The session includes an emphasis on research-based strategies, information about a model of critical thinking for guiding student investigations, and an introduction to digital tools appropriate for use with young gifted children. Participants receive management ideas, project guidelines, assessment ideas, and a bibliography of online resources.
