Description
Gifted students have the potential to do great things, and unfortunately, the potential to do great harm. What can parents and educators do to promote moral leadership among the gifted? This presentation summarizes key research and theory from various fields, including Haidt's work on moral emotions, Kegan's constructive-developmental theory, neuroscience, and positive psychology. Using a social-intuitionist approach to understand moral judgment, examine how one high school is building moral leadership and cultivating a caring community among its gifted students. Participants leave with an understanding of some necessary ingredients for promoting a culture of moral excellence.
