Description
NAGC recently published a pamphlet titled10 Myths about Gifted Education. Using this publication as a starting point, the presenters conducted a qualitative analysis of word data collected from third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers involved with Project CLUE-Plus, a Javits grant funded university-multiple school collaboration, to explore the prevalence of mythological barriers operating within teachers’ perceptions of children who are gifted. Findings indicated that 48% of teachers expressed a belief in one or more myths about children who are gifted. During this session, findings, implications, and practical applications from the study are presented.
