Description
Summer enrichment programs serve as an alternative for regular school for gifted students by meeting their academic, social, and emotional needs. In this session, the presenters discuss Super Summer, a commuter, summer enrichment program for elementary students and how four dimensions of motivation and learning - interest, challenge, choice, and enjoyment - have been incorporated into curriculum design. Students evaluated the program using My Class Activities, an instrument that measures their perceptions of their enrichment class. Implications for developing and implementing special programs with curricula that incorporate the four MCA dimensions are discussed.
