Description
Historical thinking is essential to the in-depth study of history and other social sciences. In historical thinking, students are engaged in raising questions to support their answers. Historical thinking can best be described as a teaching strategy designed to foster higher-order thinking skills. Engaging gifted learners in historical thinking nurtures and excites their intellect, creativity, and sensitivity for the interconnections between events and human issues over time. This session engages participants in a review of various strategies and materials found most effective in teaching gifted students to develop the habits of mind of historians.
