Description
The continuum of care in problem gambling treatment has lacked a concise tool for thorough assessment and proper patient placement…until now. The GPPC (Gambling Patient Placement Criteria) is now available as a published manual for clinicians ready to be used at all levels of intervention and treatment, for seasoned professionals to interns. Professionals in clinical settings will find the GPPC instantly applicable for use as a reference, for assessment, training and treatment referral settings. This presentation is designed to teach the GPPC’s use, from its foundation in the ASAM PPC-2R, through early field testing in a variety of settings in Nevada as a 2-year grant-funded study, to the compilation of materials and creation of the manual published in 2010. A review of the first 100 GPPC’s as well as current comparison GPPC’s will reveal an interesting profile of “typical” Nevada problem gambling clients encountered in various treatment settings, including the judicial system. The presenters in this workshop have implanted the GPPC in three outpatient and residential treatment centers and will report on using the GPPC at all levels of care. Participants in this presentation will immediately become familiar with the GPPC and its applications in a wide variety of settings.
