Mary Sojourner is the author of the memoir/self-help guide, She Bets Her Life: a true story of gambling addiction; two novels; short story and essay collections; dozens of magazine articles and columns; and 20+ national NPR commentaries. I had a private counseling practice in Rochester, NY from 1972-1985, specializing in life transitions and addictions. I now write and teach writing in Central Oregon after fifteen years doing the same work in the Southwest. I am, for today, a recovering gambling addict.

Description
Mary Sojourner will read from "She Bets Her Life: a true story of gambling addiction", her memoir/guide for women gambling addicts and from "Going Through Ghosts", a novel playing out in Nevada's small town casinos and huge desert/mountain landscapes. She'll talk about the role writing has in her gambling addiction recovery and offer suggestions on using writing with clients in therapy. She loves questions.
