Dr. Samantha Nutt
Founder of War Child Canada and most recently named to the Order of Ontario

Chosen by Maclean’s Magazine for their annual Honour Roll as one of “12 Canadians making a difference”, Dr. Samantha Nutt is a medical doctor and public health specialist with more than 13 years of experience working in war zones. Committed to peace, human rights and social justice, her ambition has always been to help war-affected women and children. She has worked in some of the world’s most violent flashpoints with War Child Canada, the United Nations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Iraq, Afghanistan, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Iraq, Burundi, northern Uganda and the Thai-Burmese border.

Nutt is a recipient of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Award, has been profiled by Time Magazine as one of Canada’s five leading activists and by CBC News Sunday as an outstanding Canadian leader. Global Television has declared her a ‘Canadian Trailblazer’. In 2006, she was also chosen by Chatelaine readers as one of 12 Canadian women they would most like to see run for politics. Homemaker’s Magazine recently declared her one of the “Ten Great Canadian Women to Know”. Nutt was also chosen by the World Economic Forum as one of the world’s 200 Young Global Leaders
