Invitation
The AAMS Research Committee invites the submission of abstracts for consideration in the final program of the 2014 Air Medical
Transport Conference, September 22-24, Nashville, TN. Contributions will be peer reviewed and either presented as a poster
or an oral paper within the Scientific Assembly. Submissions are being accepted during an open Call for Abstracts on the AAMS website,
www.aams.org. The deadline to submit is midnight EST April 23, 2014.
Submitting authors have the option of choosing their presentation preference: oral or poster, but the AAMS Research
Committee will make the final decision. For those indicating that their preference of presenting type is in poster format,
please note that during the poster viewing periods, specific times will be scheduled for author attendance.
General Policies and Requirements for the Submission of
Abstracts
All abstracts must be original work.
Presenting authors will be required to register for the AMTC in order for
their abstract to be accepted.
All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the AAMS Research Committee, which
reserves the right to accept and reject abstracts for inclusion in the Program.
Committee members will communicate with authors regarding minor changes, as applicable.

Abstracts are to be submitted via the AAMS website.
Please visit
www.AAMS.org and click on the 2014 AMTC Scientific Assembly button.
Full instructions on submission are outlined on the website. Authors will be
required to use a template document for the development of their abstract. This
template is to be obtained from the AAMS website.

Abstracts will only be accepted for review if accompanied by a completed Abstract Submission Form.
The online Abstract Submission Form must be fully completed. Please print a
copy of the Abstract Submission Form for your records prior to clicking the
submit button.
Do not resubmit your abstract for any reason other than a submission error.
Note: Once your abstract has been submitted it is final. Only changes
recommended by the AAMS Research Committee are allowed.
The AMTC Show Management will not be responsible for abstract submissions not
received via the AAMS website nor for submission errors caused by Internet
Service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or natural
disasters.
It will be the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that the
abstract is supplied
in full. After the author has submitted their document, they must check their
abstract, which will be converted to a pdf file, to ensure the document has been
received in full. Instructions on accessing their abstract are outlined on the
website.
Abstracts on diskettes/CD-Rom will not be accepted.
Notification
Abstract acceptance notification will be sent to presenting authors by June 2014
together with instructions for presentation as a poster and/or oral
communication.
Abstract Content
The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation
to an audience. The results of the study must be included in the abstract. It
is unsatisfactory to state that the results will be presented or discussed –
these abstracts will be subject to rejection.
Introduction:
Statement of problem and review of literature, purpose of the study or study
hypothesis
Methods:
Study population, research design (retrospective or prospective), statistical
measurement/tests/s used
Results:
Data analysis findings, interpretation
Conclusion:
Strengths/weaknesses of study contribution of findings to critical care
transport and indications for further study
It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure accuracy of
content, spelling and
presentation, as abstracts will be published exactly as submitted.
Formatting
Instructions
Abstract text should be a maximum approx 400 words written in the English
language.
Abstracts exceeding the word limit will be rejected.
Title should be in all capital letters. Do not indent.
Initials, followed by the surname, should be used to identify authors (eg. B.
Smith). All affiliations should be
typed under the authors’ names. Each author should indicate institute, city,
state and country. Do not include degrees or professional
titles (eg. Dr, Prof., etc). For example:

University of Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia
M. Jones
Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA
Leave a line between paragraphs and do not indent.
Suggested headings for abstract
sections are:
Introduction
Method
Results
Conclusions
Use standard abbreviations only. Within the body of the abstract, when using
abbreviations
for compounds, spell out the name in full at the first mention and follow with
the abbreviation in parenthesis. Abbreviations may be used in the title provided
the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.
Capitalize the first letter in trade names.
Ensure that any tables/figures/graphs are within the printable area of the
page. The conversion of your WORD file to a pdf file can result in the omission
of images if they are not within the printable area of the page. Please ensure
that your tables/figures/graphs are numbered and that the text of the abstract
refer to them.
Note:
Compliance to the specifications is
imperative - any abstract that does not comply with these specifications may not
be accepted for review.
