Invitation

The AAMS Research Committee invites the submission of abstracts for consideration in the final program of the 2014 Air Medical Transport Conference, September 22-24, Nashville, TN. Contributions will be peer reviewed and either presented as a poster or an oral paper within the Scientific Assembly. Submissions are being accepted during an open Call for Abstracts on the AAMS website, www.aams.org. The deadline to submit is midnight EST April 23, 2014.

Submitting authors have the option of choosing their presentation preference: oral or poster, but the AAMS Research Committee will make the final decision. For those indicating that their preference of presenting type is in poster format, please note that during the poster viewing periods, specific times will be scheduled for author attendance.

General Policies and Requirements for the Submission of Abstracts

All abstracts must be original work.

Presenting authors will be required to register for the AMTC in order for their abstract to be accepted.

All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the AAMS Research Committee, which reserves the right to accept and reject abstracts for inclusion in the Program. Committee members will communicate with authors regarding minor changes, as applicable.

Abstract Submission Procedure/Instructions

Abstracts are to be submitted via the AAMS website.

Please visit www.AAMS.org and click on the 2014 AMTC Scientific Assembly button.

Full instructions on submission are outlined on the website. Authors will be required to use a template document for the development of their abstract. This template is to be obtained from the AAMS website.

If you are unable to submit your abstract via the website, please contact the AMTC Show Manager:

Natasha J. Ross, Education & Meetings Manager, NRoss@aams.org Tel: (703) 836 8732

Abstracts will only be accepted for review if accompanied by a completed Abstract Submission Form.

The online Abstract Submission Form must be fully completed. Please print a copy of the Abstract Submission Form for your records prior to clicking the submit button.

Do not resubmit your abstract for any reason other than a submission error. Note: Once your abstract has been submitted it is final. Only changes recommended by the AAMS Research Committee are allowed.

The AMTC Show Management will not be responsible for abstract submissions not received via the AAMS website nor for submission errors caused by Internet Service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or natural disasters.

It will be the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that the abstract is supplied
in full. After the author has submitted their document, they must check their abstract, which will be converted to a pdf file, to ensure the document has been received in full. Instructions on accessing their abstract are outlined on the website.

Abstracts on diskettes/CD-Rom will not be accepted.

Notification

Abstract acceptance notification will be sent to presenting authors by June 2014 together with instructions for presentation as a poster and/or oral communication.

Abstract Content

The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation to an audience.  The results of the study must be included in the abstract. It is unsatisfactory to state that the results will be presented or discussed – these abstracts will be subject to rejection.

Methods:  Study population, research design (retrospective or prospective), statistical measurement/tests/s used

Results:  Data analysis findings, interpretation

It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure accuracy of content, spelling and

Within the body of the abstract, when using abbreviations for compounds, spell out the name in full at the first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parenthesis. Abbreviations may be used in the title provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.

Capitalize the first letter in trade names.

Ensure that any tables/figures/graphs are within the printable area of the page. The conversion of your WORD file to a pdf file can result in the omission of images if they are not within the printable area of the page. Please ensure that your tables/figures/graphs are numbered and that the text of the abstract refer to them.

Note: Compliance to the specifications is imperative - any abstract that does not comply with these specifications may not be accepted for review.
