DESCRIPTION
Evaluating an employee's performance can be one of the most difficult (or dreaded) activities a supervisor must accomplish. When performance reviews are performed only once a year, it can be very difficult for a supervisor to remember what an employee has done over the previous twelve months, and to effectively communicate appreciation for tasks well done and provide constructive coaching on performance which needed improvement in the distant past. Effective performance review can occur when a supervisor accepts the challenge to provide regular, ongoing positive and constructive feedback and coaching, and to prepare adequately for periodic performance review meetings. This program will provide suggestions for turning performance feedback and review into tools that supervisors use to align employees with departmental and organizational goals.
