DESCRIPTION
In the spring of 2005, six key operational questions were extensively examined during the Think Tank. The Thinkers involved in this year-long process will present the findings of their research and the administrative actions to be implemented in the future. Key operational questions include the reengineering of transfusion processes; error reduction through extensive deployment of computer technology; improvement of the service continuum between suppliers and transfusion providers; training priorities for preparing the future workforce; and administrative processes for identifying and implementing new cellular therapies. From a global perspective, the administrative actions required to control the risks associated with transfusions will be discussed. The presentations by the Thinkers will be followed by active participation of the audience in further development of these actions.
